Is it necessary to always be outrageous if one wants to capture the attention of media as far as fashion and trends are concerned? Well, that certainly seems to be the case. A person, despite being a very big celebrity, will gain very little coverage if he or she dresses conservatively and stylishly. On the other hand, those celebrities who go in for the outrages look and try to do something different invariably end up getting lot of media coverage.

How do they get away with this? Why is it that some celebrities are forgiven for the craziest fashion disasters ever? Well, it is a very simple public relation exercise. Media gets news that will attract viewers and the celebrity gets easy access to affordable publicity. It is a mutually symbiotic relationship between the media and the celebrity. Fashion simply happens to be the tool or medium for this task.

If anybody has to be blamed, one has to blame the ordinary man on the street who loves reading and knowing more about such fashion outrageous. This is the reason why the red carpet happens to be the spot where the weirdest fashion trends are exposed. Whether the celebrities duplicate the look or not becomes irrelevant. It is a moment where they simply pose for the cameras and try to get their name across to the maximum number of persons.

It requires a bit of courage to go ahead with such a method of creating publicity. The resulting publicity is not necessarily positive or beneficial. It can even be negative and critical. If some other celebrity enters into argument and criticizes the look, it only provides additional fodder for television and newspaper media.

The internet happens to be a very useful tool because videos can quickly go viral if they have the names of popular celebrities attached to it combined with a short description of the fashion trend that has just been created.
